Checklists & Sprinting Towards the Finish
There are times when launching a product feels like a Herculean task. Endless checklists loom: user‑experience testing, accessibility testing, unit testing, database backups and testing, server‑performance testing, security testing, and more. Our team chose to code the application manually, too. Sure, we use AI assistants to generate repetitive code—such as unit tests—but most of xptracker was built the old‑fashioned way.
We gathered, outlined the features, designed the database, and linked the technologies—all without relying on AI. Not because we harbor an anti‑AI sentiment (more like healthy skepticism), but because we genuinely enjoy the process of building something ourselves. Where’s the fun in having someone else build a product for you?
With that said, we’re incredibly close to launching xptracker to the public. Here’s where we stand:
- Our core features are built; they’re now being refined and tested.
- After each round of testing, we iterate on the codebase to address bugs and improve the user experience. This includes:
- Adding more unit tests.
- Using browser accessibility tools to resolve accessibility concerns.
- Testing server performance and refining caching and code structure to prevent future issues.
- Validating email registrations and password resets.
- Restructuring page components to make them clearer and more intuitive.
It’s a lot of work, but we’re in the home stretch. We expect to launch before the holidays this year—a bit later than originally promised, but we’re confident it’ll be worth the wait! Here’s a quick preview of how easy it will be to download your resume with all filter selections applied:
